Hades, the unseen, god of the underworld, is a son of the Titans Kronos and Rhea. Hades is referred to as Πλούτων meaning "Rich One"; he rules the dead, and all things beneath the earth. Hermes serves as ψυχοπομπός, an escort for the dead. Hermes is the only god who enters and leaves the underworld without hindrance.
